Within the Healthcare Solutions (HS) cluster, innovative architectural solutions for a wide range of medical systems are developed.
The HCS cluster works on a number of challenges in
software and architecture on behalf of Philips Medical
Systems. The first challenge addresses the issue: "How
to significantly decrease (a factor 3 in 3 years) the
lead-time of clinical application development? We
explore the promising avenue of the use of MDD (Model
Driven Development) in combination with the use of Agile
methods. The second challenge is to achieve large scale
reuse accross multiple business groups and we are
exploiting our knowhow of architecting for variability
accross multiple views and multiple organisation, using
the BAPO/CAFCR approach. The key application area are
medical workspots. The third challenge is to make optimal
use of "on-board" computing resources in order to
develop optimal performant systems. The fourth challenge is
the exploitation of emerging GRID technologies for the
ever growing computing and data needs in healthcare. The fifth challenge adresses the issue
of evolvability of medical system architectures: easier evolution while maintaining throughput, reliability, safety, and ease of use.
